 Doing business in Africa has its challenges.

It is a developed and developing country where infrastructure and communications are difficult but mobile commerce is more developed than most may expect.

A country where people often have multiple mobile devices as signal can easily drop off one provider, so they have to switch to another.

Import taxes are now much more complicated as the old rate card has been replaced by a seemingly more ad-hoc system, making it hard to navigate.

Omni retailers  face two major challenges:

Challenge1 – B2B purchasing is influenced by changes enjoyed from the B2C model and the movement to a B2C2B. This is changing customers’ expectations of purchasing and the demand to be able to transact Amazon style.

Challenge 2 – Packaging is a big challenge now. It was designed to cope with on-shelf visibility, not on-screen. It was designed to be shipped in bulk in pallets and now it is required as one item. Watch this space.
