Budding Entrepreneurs (London 2006) of the Year-E&Y

One the best events I have attended in recent weeks is the Ernst and Young 'Entrepreneur of the Year' awards.E&Y run this phenomenal awards programme across 40 countries over six continents. I attended the London Regional and also the UK Finals in 2005 (overall winner was Peter Cullum, Chairman of Towergate Group Ltd) but was not invited to the Global final in Monte Carlo. I was inspired by the winners last year and I have listed for you the individual winning Entrepreneurs for the 2006 Awards, that I recently attended. See below... I for one-will be charting the progress they all make. Interim Managers could make all the difference to them!

The winners so far in the London Region are split into categories:
Consumer Products and Services, Tim Richards, CEO of Vue Entertainment Holdings Ltd
Business Products and Services, Rosaleen Blair, CE of Alexander Mann Solutions Ltd
Quoted Entrepreneur, Stanley Fink, CEO of Mann Group plc
Emerging Entrepreneur, Michael Cleary, MD of 1st Credit Ltd
Media, Andrew Walmsley, Founder of i-level Group Ltd
Master Entrepreneur, Sir Anwar Pervez, Chairman of Bestway Holdings Limited
Young Entrepreneur,  Barry Houlihan, MD of Mobile Interactive Group Ltd
Technology and Communication, Christian Nellemann, CE of XLN Telecom Ltd

In complete contrast, all credit to E&Y for having one very compelling category that of 'Social Entrepreneur', so often forgotten by the commercial world. This year it was awarded to Dr Gordon Dâ Silva, CE of Training for Life..In the National Awards last year it was awarded to a truly inspiring woman Camila Batmanghelidjh who founded Kids Company, the children's charity that goes into parts of UK Inner Cities where the more established charities fear to tread her book 'Shattered Lives: Children who Live with Courage and Dignity' makes you really stop in your tracks and reflect-Is the commercial world doing enough to help, all too often on the doorstep?
