When Should you use Interim Managers?

Interim managers have proved time and again to be a highly effective, cost-efficient, immediate solution for organisations of all sizes who are looking to rapidly improve their performance.

Interim managers are crucial when organisations experience:

  • Re-engineering:

BPR or organisational restructure requires an experienced manager to drive through the Programme
  • Rapid growth or product launch:

a company needs to expand into a new market sector quickly
  • Crisis or change:

the organisation is going through a crisis or period of major change, merger, acquisition or management buy-out and needs immediate experienced help
  • Recruitment gaps:

there will be a long gap in the recruitment of a board member and the organisation needs a safe pair of hands at the helm until the permanent replacement is found
  • Loss of key management:

a key manager is going to be absent through illness or maternity, paternity or compassionate leave

Interim managers help companies who need:

  • To improve the bottom line:

someone who can quickly identify where profits can be enhanced or savings made – and implement the changes required
  • Quick results:

a project has been delayed and needs to be kick-started by a manager with the authority and experience to ensure project recovery
  • Flexibility:

a business needs hands-on managerial support to maintain a key team or project but doesn't want to incur permanent recruitment costs, particularly if it is going through restructuring or major change
  • New skills:

there is a need for ‘someone who has done this before' and the relevant skills or experience are lacking internally
  • Hands-on help:

a start-up company needs experience and hands-on help to get the business up and running but doesn't have the resources to employ permanent staff members
