Our client, a large utility company is looking for an IT Interim Security Manager to create and build the IT security business strategy of a multi site business.
The company is experiencing significant transition and the successful candidate needs to be risk aware, not risk averse.
Role Purpose:
- To be the information security executive responsible for all information security efforts across the company.
- Will deliver an IS security strategy and associated security policies, procedures, standards and architecture, provide independent monitoring of key systems, preparation for dealing with threats, and measure the performance of these risk controls.
- Will safeguard the company assets, intellectual property, network security architecture, and enterprise identity, and will own access management and intrusion monitoring processes.
- Will oversee incident response planning, investigation of security breaches, and coordinate response activities, working with outside consultants and Government agencies as required.
- Will manage a small of security architects.
Key Accountabilities
- Create and maintain a valid and appropriate IT security strategy to align with wider business strategies and plans.
- Develop and implement best in-class IT policies and standards adopted throughout the UK business
- Quality management approach embedded within operating procedures
- Lead the security assurance process to ensure compliance of proposals with agreed security policies and standards
- Deliver high level IT security consultancy to the UK business and Executive Management Team, acting as a trusted advisor on IT security matters, technologies, plans, policies and standards.
- Direct the work of external IT partners and suppliers at both the strategy and appropriate technical levels to drive the delivery of necessary security expertise to UK wider business.
- Lead and manage a team of IT security experts to ensure a right-sized, motivated and skilled team in place.
- Lead the communication of the IT security strategy to the business, IT departments, IT partners and suppliers to ensure their understanding and compliance.
Skills / Competencies / Experience Required
- Minimum 8 years IS/IT Security experience in applicable
- Development of strategies for large organisations
- Detailed knowledge of security tools, techniques and practice at both the governance and implementation level
- Interpersonal skills at all levels to Director
- Detailed understanding of all applicable legislative requirements (e.g. Data Protection Act, etc.)
- Experience of delivering against appropriate best in class security quality standards e.g. BS7799, ISO 27001
