IORMA – The Global Consumer Commerce Knowledge Centre

IORMA welcomes Alastair Tempest, Director, IORMA Africa.

Doing business in Africa has its challenges.

It is a developed and developing country where infrastructure and communications are difficult but mobile commerce is more developed than most may expect.

A country where people often have multiple mobile devices as signal can easily drop off one provider, so they have to switch to another.

Import taxes are now much more complicated as the old rate card has been replaced by a seemingly more ad-hoc system, making it hard to navigate.

Omni retailers  face two major challenges:

Challenge1 – B2B purchasing is influenced by changes enjoyed from the B2C model and the movement to a B2C2B. This is changing customers’ expectations of purchasing and the demand to be able to transact Amazon style.

Challenge 2 – Packaging is a big challenge now. It was designed to cope with on-shelf visibility, not on-screen. It was designed to be shipped in bulk in pallets and now it is required as one item. Watch this space.

IORMA

IORMA will have people on the ground in all main consumer markets to help local businesses trade in the Omni-world. With five in the US and with additional  presence planned in the Middle East, Africa and soon to be in Europe, Latin America and Asia.

The IORMA Global Consumer Commerce Knowledge Centre is a resource for Businesses and Governments that recognise their need to understand and respond to the ways in which the 7 billion global consumers are changing – in the products and services they want and need, and the ways they want to obtain them.
