Over the past decade, customers might well have felt that banks don’t care about them. PPI mis-selling amounting to billions in fines, followed by FX and LIBOR rate rigging, swaps mis-selling, corporate greed at all levels in the form of excessive bonuses and generally bad behaviour, does not sseem like an industry doing its best to put the customer first. Then, on the other hand, we hear about helpful banking and being a trusted advisor. What is the truth?

Anthony Thomson had a successful career in financial marketing before founding Metro Bank with Vernon Hill. Five years later, he has turned his attention to launching the UK’s first digital bank, Atom Bank, with partner Mark Mullen, former CEO of First Direct.
Derek French founded the Campaign for Community Banking Services after a 38 year career with NatWest. The Campaign lobbies banks and government to slow the rate of closures and adopt alternatives to closure, principally shared branches.
